Menstrual Hygiene Management Awareness Campaign Held at Success Bilingual Comprehensive College

In an effort to improve menstrual health awareness among vulnerable female students, a Menstrual Hygiene Management Awareness Raising Campaign was conducted at Success Bilingual Comprehensive College on Wednesday, September 25, 2024. The campaign targeted internally displaced female students at SUBICO, aiming to promote better menstrual hygiene practices and reduce the risk of reproductive health issues.

The main objective of the campaign was to educate these young women on the importance of maintaining good menstrual hygiene, which plays a vital role in preventing lower reproductive tract infections. These infections, if left untreated, can lead to other complications, including infertility. Organizers of the event emphasized the critical link between proper menstrual hygiene and the overall reproductive health of women.

During the event, health professionals and educators addressed various aspects of menstrual hygiene, including the use of clean and safe menstrual products, proper disposal techniques, and the significance of regular hygiene practices during menstruation. Attendees were also provided with practical tips and resources to better manage their menstrual cycles, particularly in displacement settings where access to sanitary facilities can be limited.

The campaign also created an open platform for students to share their experiences and challenges related to menstruation, allowing health experts to offer tailored advice and guidance. Additionally, educational materials were distributed, and sanitary kits were handed out to all participants, ensuring that they have access to necessary hygiene supplies.

Organizers stressed that the campaign was not just about addressing the physical health concerns associated with poor menstrual hygiene but also about empowering young women to feel confident and informed about their bodies. This initiative is part of a broader effort to mitigate the stigma surrounding menstruation and to foster a supportive environment for female students, especially those who have faced the hardships of displacement.

The Menstrual Hygiene Management Awareness Campaign is expected to have a lasting impact on the health and well-being of these students, equipping them with the knowledge and tools to maintain their reproductive health and safeguard their futures.
